Many a small thing has been made large by the right kind of advertising.
Advertising is the art of convincing people to spend money they don't have on things they don't need.
Without promotion, something terrible happens... Nothing!
Advertising is the rattling of a stick inside a swill bucket.
Creativity is seeing what everyone else has seen and thinking what no-one else has thought.
Don't tell my mother I work in an advertising agency; she thinks I play piano in a whorehouse.
Doing business without advertising is like winking at a girl in the dark.
You know what you are doing but nobody else does.
Steuart H Britt
The only people who care about advertising are the people who work in advertising.
It's not what you say that stirs people. It's the way you say it.
An advertising agency is 85 percent confusion and 15 percent commission.
The consumer isn't a moron, she's your wife (or 'he's your husband' of course).
Society drives people crazy with lust and calls it advertising.
whichever side it is, we should talk

POSTER DESIGN AND PRINTING
Profile Communications produced a series of posters to communicate to patients the dangers of UV rays and the need for protection from it.
Note the different style for the illustration-based poster which was designed with a particular type of optical practice in mind.
Artwork for your poster can be supplied to you as high-resolution PDF files for you to arrange printing locally. This allows you to act more quickly and without the lead times and costs associated with distance printing and delivery.
We can arrange printing if you prefer. With digital print facilities, single poster prints have become affordable to all.
With the availability of excellent stock photography, high-quality, personalised posters can be available to organisations of all sizes and for all budgets.
Choices is the 20-page quarterly magazine for services users at the Milestones Trust, a charity that supports people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and dementia in the Bristol area.
In the case of Choices, the client gives me the text, most of the images and the page sequence, allowing me to create the design, which we then develop. Choices is a printed magazine and is also supplied for their website as a low-resolution PDF for on-screen use and as a Word document for use with software to vocalise text.
It's a pleasure to work with such a worthwhile and professional charity.
It's increasingly a digital world but many people still prefer to get their information from a printed document.
Some literature needs to explain, other documents inform but in their different ways, they're all selling a product.
Profile Communications was responsible for the creative concepts, design, images and copy writing of all the designs on this page. Some are busy and active, others are much more minimalist. It depends on the message, the client and above all, the target audience.
With the wide availability of good-quality stock images, it would be a mistake to think that highly-professional literature is not available to any organisation of any size.
If you're thinking of producing your own literature, contact us and we'll show you that it can be affordable and effective.
ADVERTISING CAN BE FUN
My client had been given a snapshot-quality photo of Gordon Ramsay with one of their vacuum packing machines.
Chefs often use vacuum packing machines in sous-vide products and Multivac asked me to come up with an advertisement using the image.
As Multivac's competitors tended to use very feature-based advertising, we always tried to introduce a more offbeat approach, as a means of differentiating the company from its competitors.
Profile Communications came up with the concept on the left, not really thinking Gordon Ramsay's 'people' would let us use it. It appeared that they had a sense of humour too and were happy to let us run with it. Thanks to all for going along with the spirit of it.

For over twenty years, Profile Communications produced Insight, a twice-yearly magazine targeted at the optical profession and the optical industry in general.
Most of the copy was written by Profile Communications and from time to time its proprietor, Paul Norris, produced not only the copy, but the idea for the article too.
How Do They Do It? on the left, was an article written by Paul with his Varilux University lecturer hat on. It drew conclusions on the successful habits of optical professionals from the practices he had interviewed over his twenty years working on Insight.
Paul is also a photographer and took all the location photography used in the magazine.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND ILLUSTRATION
Profile Communication's proprietor, Paul Norris, is also a photographer. He worked with Aardman Animations for ten years covering stills photography for Wallace and Gromit and Aardman's feature film, Chicken Run. His photos appeared on covers of Radio Times and TV Times' Christmas edition.
Paul covers location photography, portraits and general studio photography. He is experienced in Photoshop image correction.
Bett is an illustrator and designer who regularly works with Paul.
Paul also photographed many rock bands in the 1980s with his photos published all over the world. They can be seen on the website www.80srockpics.com.
Profile Communications produce Powerpoint presentations for several of its clients. The two examples show a presentation given at a conference in Utrecht; the other from a lawyer to a Landlords Association meeting.
Paul Norris is an experienced public speaker having worked with the Varilux University in Paris, Hong Kong, South Africa, Malaysia and throughout Europe.
He lectured on One-to-One Communications Skills for Opticians and gave shorter talks on dealing with difficult people and the principles of communication.
Profile Communications produces simple-looking but professional Powerpoint presentations that can make such a difference to a talk, raising it above the mundane.
WEBSITES AND HTML EMAILS
Profile Communications produces a range of websites, including single to multi-page versions. We also offer an HTML email service.
Many users order a website without understanding how it will be used and what it is trying to achieve. Working with us means we'll set clear objectives that we can make sure the website works towards.
We can set up your website to include sections in which you can add, delete and amend text. But if you prefer, we can make site changes and updates for you.
We can arrange hosting and give you access to detailed web reports to indicate the frequency with which individual pages on your site are being visited.
Profile Communications works with the Fostering Foundation, to produce advertising designed to attract leads for new foster carers.
The advertising needs to appeal to more than one type of carer. Some are more motivated by the wish for full or part-time work in child care. The double meaning in the word 'rewarding' is used to suggest that while fostering is the worthwhile work we all know it to be, it can also be a career from which a living can be made.
For some the strongest motivation is the wish to put something back into the world and give support and care to children, and often their parents, who lead difficult lives. They also need to be aware that it's a challenging role which can often teach them a lot about themselves.
